Long
Island Columbus Day Parade The Constantino Brumidi Hall & Lodge has been asked by the Long Island Sons of Italy to Chair this year's parade. It means a lot to us being asked to Chair such an event important as Columbus Day, not only as Italians, but as Americans.
The
2007 Sons of Italy Columbus Day Parade will be, once again, held
in the town of Huntington on Sunday October 7th 2007 at
1 p.m. Held in conjunction with the Town of Huntington’s
Annual Long Island Fall Festival, the largest of its kind in the
Northeast. Brought to you by the Huntington Township Chamber of
Commerce at Huntington , the Long Island Fall Festival is held
annually in early October and attracts tens of thousands of
families from all over the New York tri-state area to the 25 acres
of Heckscher Park. The Long Island Sons of Italy is proud to partner with the Town of Hunting and the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce at Huntington to bring Long Islander’s a first class parade celebrating the achievements of the great Renaissance explorer who founded the first permanent European settlement in the New World; Cristoforo Colombo, born in Genoa to Domenico Colombo and his wife Susanna Fontannarossa. According to U.S. Census Bureau 2000 Demographic Profile, Italians represent about 26% of Nassau and Suffolk’s population with an estimated 727,000.
